Friendship Force of Memphis

Friendship Force of Memphis is a chapter of Friendship Force International, based in Atlanta, Georgia.

We were chartered in 1982. Since then, we have made over 50 journeys, or exchanges.

What are exchanges and ambassadors? Our mission is to promote global understanding across the barriers that seperate people. A world of friends is a world of peace!

Exchanges/Journeys are the mutual trips between the worldwide Friendship Force Communities. Ambassadors are the people to spread friendship.

The Friendship Force of Memphis Community

Memphis is located on the Mississippi River.

It has a population of 633,104 from the 2020 census.

Discovered by Spanish conquistador Hernando de Soto in 1541.

Its early wealth came from cotton grown in the nearby Mississippi River Delta. Today, Memphis serves as a distribution center where FedEx was founded in 1973, making Memphis the world’s busiest cargo airport.

Memphis has become known as the BBQ capital of the world. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is located here through the efforts of entertainer Danny Thomas. Elvis Presley’s Graceland home is visited by people worldwide.
